When Disney-MGM Studios opened in 1989, one of its premiere attractions was the Backlot Tour. The experience took guests behind the scenes of movie magic, from a tram ride through Catastrophe Canyon and past residential streets used in film and television, to a walking tour showcasing how special effects were created.
