New York City Mayor-Elect Zohran Mamdani told "Good Morning America" on Wednesday that he would not be "intimidated" by potential threats from President Donald Trump to deploy the National Guard to the city. "His threats are inevitable," Mamdani said. "This has nothing to do a safety, it has to do with intimidation."
"I know you're watching, turn the volume up," the 34-year-old socialist tells the president as he becomes the first Muslim mayor of New York City.
Wynn, a real estate developer and Las Vegas luxury casino mogul, is a prominent donor to the Republican Party and was the finance chair of the Republican National Convention (RNC) from 2017 to 2018 before he resigned following a Wall Street Journal report regarding sexual harassment allegations.
President Trump encouraged New Yorkers to vote for former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, reiterating his threat that he would withdraw federal funding from New York City if the democratic socialist candidate Zohran Mamdani wins.
Mamdani’s win in New York has drawn messages of solidarity from left-leaning politicians abroad, where many see him as a sign of hope for progressive politics.
