PITTSBURGH -- Sidney Crosby had a goal and two assists, passing Joe Sakic for ninth all-time in points in a 5-3 win for the Pittsburgh Penguins against the Edmonton Oilers at PPG Paints Arena on Thursday. Crosby reached 1,643 points (604 goals, 1,039 assists), ahead of Sakic (1,641) and behind Mario Lemieux (1,723) in eighth.

One of which was Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby making franchise history by passing Hall of Fame legend Mario Lemieux as the all-time assists leader. Crosby notched his 1,034th career assist on a power-play goal scored by Michael Bunting in the second period of the Penguins' 3-2 victory over the New York Islanders.

With a second-period faceoff win - the 15,183rd of his career - Crosby surpassed former Boston Bruins superstar Patrice Bergeron for the most faceoff wins in NHL history since the NHL started tracking in 1997.
