Last summer, the only outside free agent the Los Angeles Lakers signed was Christian Koloko, a seven-footer who had been a second-round draft pick in 2022. He had missed all of the 2023-24 season due to a blood clot issue, and the Lakers, who badly needed center depth, signed him to a two-way contract.
