For good measure, they added another South Jersey shortstop, but this time in the 16th round. With the 491st overall pick, the Phillies drafted Logan Dawson from Eastern. Dawson, a Boston College commit, scored 36 runs this past season with the Vikings, adding 15 extra-base hits 14 stolen bases.

Fisher becomes the ninth Memorial graduate to be chosen in the MLB Draft. The only others in program history to be chosen straight from the prep ranks were Don Mattingly (1979) and Mark Wezet (1973). Mattingly played 14 years with the New York Yankees; Wezet pitched in college at Murray State.

For the first time since 2019, before Brian Barber took over as amateur scouting director, the Phillies used their first-round draft pick on a college player, taking right-hander Gage Wood from the University of Arkansas with the 26th overall selection Sunday night.
