The teen accused of fatally stabbing Austin Metcalf, 17, at a Frisco ISD track meet will be heading to court next week.

A fundraiser for Karmelo Anthony, who is accused of murdering fellow Texas high schooler Austin Metcalf, has raised $270,000.

The attorney for Karmelo Anthony, the 17-year-old accused of murdering football star Austin Metcalf at a Texas track meet, insists he doesn’t have “any reason” to think the killing “wasn’t in self defense” — and will request the teen’s bond be lowered from $1,000,000.

Carmelo Anthony said he “would love to see” his No. 7 jersey retired by the New York Knicks after being selected as a member of the 2025 Basketball Hall of Fame class.

Anthony was at the Final Four at the Alamodome on Saturday for the announcement that he was being inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.

Among players who played their most career games with the Denver Nuggets, Anthony is just the fifth player in franchise history elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame. He joins a group that includes Dikembe Mutombo, Dan Issel, David Thompson, Alex English.

Anthony and Howard were announced Saturday as members of the Class of 2025, as was the 2008 U.S. Olympic men’s basketball team that they played on — dubbed the “Redeem Team,” the one that captured gold at the Beijing Games and started a still-going run of five consecutive Olympic titles and counting for USA Basketball’s men’s program.

Anthony, 40, got the call during the week. When he saw the number was coming from Springfield, the former Knicks star knew what that meant. Days later, it was still sinking in.

The family of a student charged with murder in the fatal stabbing of another student at a track meet is "sincerely saddened" over the death, the teen's attorneys said.
