The Islanders are retaining defenseman Tony DeAngelo. The team announced it had re-signed the right-handed defenseman from Sewell, New Jersey, a pending unrestricted free agent, shortly before the free-agent market opened on Tuesday at noon.

“Sources say Tony DeAngelo is closing in on a deal to stay on Long Island,” Frank Seravalli reported in a post on X. “Cross another name off the list – a thin right-shot defense market gets thinner. 1 year x $1.75m.”
