After President Trump criticizes California Gov. Newsom over the Los Angeles area wildfires during his inauguration address, the Democratic governor says he'll look for "common ground" with the new administration.

The devastating wildfires have not garnered much sympathy from Trump and Republicans, who have decided to blame Newsom for the wildfires. Trump has repeatedly attacked the California Democrat on Truth Social as he spreads unproven claims about the wildfire situation.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom will join Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson and some GOP governors in directing U.S. flags be raised to full height on Inauguration Day.

In an interview with "Pod Save America," Newsom said Trump has been "pretty straightforward" about potentially denying federal aid to California.

The remarks come over a week after California Gov. Gavin Newsom invited Trump to visit the state and meet the victims impacted by the wildfires.
