A massive storm system dumped heavy snow and freezing rain on large swaths of the eastern United States Monday, disrupting travel and work for millions of Americans from the Ohio Valley to the capital Washington.

A major winter storm caused dangerous travel conditions and delays across the central and eastern U.S., including Washington D.C., as snow piled up.

A winter storm brought snow, ice and freezing temperatures to a broad swath of the U.S. on Sunday, with some 60 million people across more than a dozen states from Kansas to New Jersey under winter weather warnings and advisories.
