DoorDash said its agreement to buy Deliveroo, a British food delivery service, in a roughly $3.9 billion deal would give it a larger footprint in Europe and a presence in the Middle East, covering millions of users in more than 40 countries.

The deal is DoorDash’s second major international acquisition in three years as the company expands from its traditional base in the U.S., Canada, and Australia.

DoorDash has agreed to buy food delivery company Deliveroo in a £2.9bn deal, ending the UK group’s tumultuous time on the public markets. San Francisco-based DoorDash said it would pay 180p a share in cash for the UK group, which has struggled since it listed in London four years ago.
