The city received 41.2 mm of rain between 8.30 am on Friday and 8.30 am on Saturday. This is the highest rain seen in Delhi in 24 hours in December since 1923, when 75.7 mm of rain was recorded on December 3. December this year has also seen the most amount of rain since 1997 when 71.8 mm of rain was seen in the month.

Delhi experienced the highest single-day December rainfall in 101 years, recording 41.2 mm, leading to overcast and chilly conditions. The city's AQI improved significantly, moving from 'very poor' to 'moderate'.

Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) dropped to the “moderate” category, measuring 164 on Friday morning, a sharp decline from the hazardous 300+ levels recorded earlier this week.

Rain lashed Delhi-NCR throughout Friday with the city recording its highest December rainfall in the last 15 years and the mercury dropping sharply to 14.6 degree celsius, the weather department said.
