Club Brugge score three first-half goals as they beat Serie A side Atalanta to progress in the second leg of their Champions League knockout play-off at Gewiss Stadium.

Club Brugge's elimination of Serie A side Atalanta in the Champions League playoffs on Tuesday was described as a shock in some quarters but did not surprise their coach Nicky Hayen in the slightest.

The Belgian champions have a slender advantage heading into this knockout second leg in Bergamo. Atalanta will be looking to capitalize on their home advantage on Tuesday as they aim to overturn a one-goal deficit in this UEFA Champions League knockout round play-off against Club Brugge.

Club Brugge teenager Chemsdine Talbi's double helped his side to get a three-goal lead at Atalanta before they held off a second-half onslaught for a 3-1 victory in their Champions League playoff on Tuesday to reach the last 16 by 5-2 on aggregate.
