The Anthony Volpe scare seemingly has ended. The everyday Yankees shortstop went 2-for-5 with a double Sunday in his return to the lineup after he was lifted from Friday’s game when his left elbow swelled up following a plunking.

Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe left their game against the Boston Red Sox in the fourth inning with a bruised left elbow, two innings after he was hit by an 88.2 mph Walker Buehler pitch.

After the Yankees won their first 2025 game against the Red Sox, one that Volpe contributed a two-run homer in the five-run first in addition to his painful second-inning ribbie, he met with reporters to give an update on his elbow, which was still very swollen.
