The New York Yankees designated veteran infielder DJ LeMahieu for assignment on Wednesday ahead of their game against the Seattle Mariners.

The New York Yankees are moving on from DJ LeMahieu after nearly seven years with the team. According to the New York Post's Jon Heyman, the Yankees have designated LeMahieu for assignment with $22 million left on his contract.

In LeMahieu’s first four years as a Yankee, he hit .296 with an .806 OPS in 470 games. Over his past three, as his body betrayed him, he hit .237 with a .665 OPS in 248 games.
