India's Narendra Modi told Russian President Vladimir Putin on the eve of the BRICS summit that he wanted peace in Ukraine and that New Delhi was ready to help achieve a truce to end Europe's deadliest conflict since World War Two.

US presidential candidate Donald Trump has said that he threatened Vladimir Putin with a strike on Moscow if he invaded Ukraine. This was the response Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov gave when asked by reporters to comment on U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump’s recent claim that he had threatened to strike Moscow. Peskov added that "a number of world leaders" do not maintain confidentiality or follow "informational hygiene" in regard to private conversations.
