The family of Giuffre, who also accused Prince Andrew in a sex-trafficking scandal, announced that she died by suicide in late April 2025.

She accused Jeffrey Epstein and his co-conspirator, Ghislaine Maxwell, of recruiting her to join their predatory ring. She also sued Prince Andrew for sexual assault.

In response, Virginia sued Ghislaine Maxwell for defamation – and, although the case was settled, it was the discovery in this litigation, that wound up being the backbone of the 2019 criminal case against Epstein – and, later, after he died without facing a trial – Maxwell.
