Warmer weather is on the way after a cold end to 2025, however the weather pattern didn't change right at the change of the calendar.
A winter weather advisory is in place for a wintry mix this afternoon that for some areas, could transition into freezing rain. Light snow amounts are expected and ice accumulations up to 0.10 are possible. If you have travel plans this afternoon into tomorrow morning, allow for extra time and be prepared for slick roads.

The snow line is expected to be too high for valley or even mountain Wasatch Back communities to collect snow. But it also has the potential to deliver 0.5 to 1 inch or more of precipitation to the Wasatch Front and northern Utah by Friday, as well as up to a half-inch of precipitation to communities in southwest Utah, per KSL Weather models.

Seattle weather: Light showers Friday, mountain mixed rain/snow
A mix of rain, snow and freezing rain is possible for the mountain passes through Friday morning. Overnight we could see freezing rain producing ice accumulation on road surfaces. Several inches of snow are also possible for Stevens Pass and the higher elevations.
