A federal judge has ordered that Rümeysa Öztürk — a Tufts student who was arrested by immigration officers last month — be returned to Vermont to have her claim that she has been unlawfully detained decided.

A federal judge on Friday ordered Rümeysa Öztürk, a Tufts University international doctoral student held in immigration custody in Louisiana to be returned to Vermont by next month where she will remain detained,

The Tufts student, targeted because she co-authored an op-ed, may still be able to fight for her release in a court in Vermont.
