There is no official word if the 97th annual Academy Awards will be canceled. As of Jan. 14, 2025, the show is slated to air on its original date. Though the Oscars ceremony is set to go on as planned, the annual Oscars Nominees Luncheon—scheduled for Feb. 10—was canceled.

The report states that the most recent deliberation of the Academy’s board of governors is that the date of the Oscars ceremony will not be shifted. The ceremony was scheduled to take place in March 2025. The report, however, adds that the announcement of the nominations have been extended. The nominees will reportedly be announced on January 23.

Oscar nominations, other awards season events and several LA-based shows have been affected by the California fires.
