Lawyers in multiple states say their clients have been arrested in Maine in recent months despite having valid work permits, no criminal record, and pending claims for permanent status.

Forty-eight people were arrested and deported in an immigration enforcement operation along I-10 in Louisiana and Mississippi in late April, officials said.

The remaining five farmworkers remain in immigration detention. In addition, two weeks prior to the eight arrests at Pleasant Valley Farms in Berkshire, Arby Lopez was pulled over by Border Patrol agents and detailed on April 9, as he was driving to the same farm to deliver groceries for the workers.
