Ewers came back for the rivalry game against Oklahoma, and after a slow start, he led the team to a dominant win over the Sooners. Texas won the game 34-3, and all was well.

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian made headlines by benching Quinn Ewers, his three-year starting quarterback and Heisman Trophy candidate. In his place, Sarkisian decided to put in Arch Manning, the former No. 1 overall player in the 2023 recruiting class.
