Some social media users wondered if Donald Trump not taking the oath on a religious text meant he wasn't properly sworn in.

President Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th president of the United States by Chief Supreme Court Justice John Roberts in an inauguration ceremony inside the U.S. Capitol Rotunda on Monday.

Trump became president moments after noon, taking the oath read by Chief Justice John Roberts. Trump was joined by his wife Melania Trump who was holding both a family bible and the one used by President Abraham Lincoln at his 1861 inauguration.

Donald Trump appeared to forget to place his hand on a stack of Bibles held by his wife Melania Trump as he was sworn into office on Monday. Trump held up his right hand and repeated the oath of office as read to him by U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, as is customary, but his left remained at his side.

Donald Trump, who overcame impeachments, criminal indictments and a pair of assassination attempts to win another term in the White House, was sworn in Monday as the 47th U.S. president, taking charge as Republicans claim unified control of Washington and set out to reshape the country’s institutions.
