Per The Athletic’s Kelly Iko, Houston could pursue an asset-related trade by the NBA’s Feb. 6 in-season deadline. They won’t go after De’Aaron Fox.

The Houston Rockets appear unwilling to trade for Sacramento Kings point guard De'Aaron Fox, a stance that could haunt them for years to come.

According to NBA insider Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports, De’Aaron Fox is open to the Sacramento Kings trading him to the San Antonio Spurs, Miami Heat or Houston Rockets. The Kings are expected to open up talks to potentially trade Fox.

These three teams are rising contenders in need of a star point guard and have the kinds of assets that the Kings would be interested in.

Fox is the new name on the market after sending signals he doesn't want to commit long term to the Kings. Meanwhile, Butler remains suspended as the Heat decide his future.

Though the Kings star is making his future intentions clear, he's doing so while giving Sacramento a chance to fully evaluate the market.
