Uber and Lyft announced they are offering free rides for evacuees in an effort to help those impacted by the devastating wildfires in Southern California.

As wildfires continue burning across Southern California, rideshare companies Uber and Lyft are helping evacuated residents with free rides to shelter locations. “We’re teaming up with local authorities and first responders to make sure everyone who needs help evacuating gets a ride,

Uber has about 75% of the rideshare market, and Lyft has the remaining 25%, according to a autoinsurance.com, which compiles statistics on the industry. Combined, the providers had almost 180 million active users as of last June. Uber's three safety reports to date cover the years 2017-2018, 2019-2020 and 2021-2022.

Now brands are helping those displaced by the devastating wildfires in Southern California, which have already destroyed almost 2,000 buildings and forced 130,000 people to evacuate.
