A Florida mom allegedly used the online game Roblox to try to get a troubled 10-year-old child to commit a series of brutal murders — ending with the youngster slamming a baby on a hard floor in a failed attempt to kill it, according to authorities.

The sheriff’s office further alleges that Sykes gave the 10-year-old instructions to slit the throats of the adults temporarily living with the child. The minor was allegedly told to douse the sheets in the house with aerosol spray and set the adults on fire, per the statement.

The girl told investigators she was terrified of Tara Alexis Sykes, 36, and that she believed Sykes would kill her if she did not follow instructions.

Tara Sykes allegedly also told the child to drown and scold the infant with boiling water, and to slit the throats of the adults they were living with

Sykes began communicating with the 10-year-old through Roblox, an online game with a messaging feature, and gave the child directions for how to kill a 2-month-old baby and other adults in the home where the child was temporarily living, deputies said.

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office this morning released details about what officials are calling a “disturbing attempted homicide arrest.”

I have been in law enforcement for over 40 years and have never seen anything quite like this," the county's sheriff said.
