Texas Rangers right-hander Jacob deGrom became the fastest pitcher in major league history to reach 1,800 career strikeouts by games and innings.

He's a long way removed from his two Cy Young awards, but don't tell him. He keeps throwing fastballs at 99, sliders at 93 and striking batters out at the rate he did as a much younger pitcher, and baseball is better for it.

Jacob deGrom struck out nine and allowed a leadoff homer in six solid innings, and Corey Seager, Marcus Semien and Adolis García homered as the Texas Rangers beat the Athletics 6-2.
