On July 2nd of last year, Boston Celtics guard Derrick White was celebrating his birthday with a relaxing round of golf. Then Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla called him, but not just to wish him a happy birthday.

Jeo Mazzulla had a heated moment with the referee for a disputed call during the Celtics vs. Hawks recent game.

Boston Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla had to be restrained after getting furious at the referees in their game against the Atlanta Hawks.

From the jump, the Boston Celtics were outmatched on Wednesday night. There was a different energy to the Atlanta Hawks than the one they brought to the table just nine days prior.

"They got the best of us ... we didn't play well, they did, and you move on," said Mazzulla.

In the post-game press conference, Joe Mazzulla repeatedly responded with the same phrase to all six questions posed by reporters.

Mazzulla was not the only Celtic supporting the Patriots at TD Garden Monday night as team owner Bill Chisholm sported a ‘I love Drake Maye’ shirt courtside. Patriots owner Robert Kraft was also in attendance for Monday’s game and got a loud ovation from the Garden crowd when shown on a jumbotron during a timeout.

He ready when his number was called, sinking a miracle shot from beyond the arc to force the second OT and eventual Boston win.

Effort, consistency, and impact are the only true currencies in this locker room. Most teams — especially contenders — rely on rigid hierarchies. Mazzulla, however, treats his rotation like a living organism. It’s a literal revolving door where strong performances are rewarded with minutes and roles can shift on a game-to-game basis.
