International Paper Co. confirmed that it will close a Kansas City packaging plant, a move that will affect 132 employees, according to a WARN Act filing on Monday.

International Paper announced says it plans to close its facility in Kansas City, Missouri, but did not say how many employees would be impacted.

International Paper Co. plans to close its Cleveland, Tennessee, production plant after 61 years and cut 115 jobs, according to a filing with the state.

Those four facilities include Cleveland, Tennessee; Kansas City, Missouri; Rockford, Illinois; and Statesville, North Carolina.

After the layoffs are finalized, International Paper will have about 1,700 employees in Memphis. The company has an estimated 39,000 employees worldwide. "International Paper is proud to be headquartered in Memphis and to be a force for good in this community," Simpson said.

International Paper confirmed Wednesday to FOX13 the company will cut about 650 total positions, including around 400 in Memphis. The company said it will provide severance packages, outplacement assistance and mental health resources to all affected employees.
