The US-brokered ceasefire agreement will not go anywhere near addressing the fundamental grievances fueling the decades-long dispute over the status of Muslim-majority Kashmir.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has refuted US President Donald Trump's claims of mediating a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. PM Modi stated that Pakistan contacted India pleading for a truce after India's aggressive action.

India and Pakistan on Saturday reached an "understanding" to stop all firings and military actions on land, air and sea, with immediate effect.
