The Toronto Maple Leafs received welcome news as Oliver Ekman-Larsson participated fully in practice today, avoiding what could have been another significant injury on an already battered blueline.

PITTSBURGH -- Oliver Ekman-Larsson had a goal and an assist, and the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 7-2 on Saturday. Ekman-Larsson extended his point streak to a career-best nine games, tied for second-longest by a defenseman in team history. He has three goals and seven assists during the streak.

Ekman-Larsson left the Maple Leafs' bench almost five minutes into the third period of Saturday's game vs. the Penguins.

The Toronto Maple Leafs seem to have escaped yet another damaging injury after defenceman Oliver Ekman-Larsson was seen skating with the main group at practice on Monday.

PITTSBURGH -- Auston Matthews scored for the first time in three games since returning from a lower-body injury, and the Toronto Maple Leafs won 7-2 against the Pittsburgh Penguins at PPG Paints Arena on Saturday. Matthews, who also had an assist for the second straight game, missed five games from Nov. 13-22.
