SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Some global computer models are suggesting development of the next named system in the tropical Caribbean waters next week. The so called “American” model, the GFS model, shows a well formed strong tropical storm or hurricane just south of Cuba by Wednesday of next week. Other models are not as aggressive in any development.

Tropical Storm Oscar continues to fall apart as it moves away from the Caribbean. Oscar has maximum sustained winds around 40 mph and is moving north-northeast at 12 mph. Oscar will continue to bring heavy rains to parts of the southern Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands as it moves out to sea.

There are no other disturbances highlighted on the NHC's tropical outlook map, according to the latest advisory.
