Michigan skyrocketed in the latest AP Top 25 women’s basketball poll and earned its highest ranking in four seasons. The Wolverines jumped eight spots, the biggest risers this week, to No. 6 in Monday’s poll. Their 93-54 win over then-No. 18 Notre Dame was certainly a major factor. Michigan is 3-0 and faces No. 1 Connecticut later this week.

The Wolverines believe they can compete with anyone anywhere and get the job done on any given night. Through three games, nothing has changed that.

Michigan basketball fell one spot to No. 6 in the latest USA TODAY Coaches Poll after two close wins. Purdue remains No. 1; Auburn dropped out.

Illustrating May’s earlier point, Michigan’s two most productive players from the Wake game — Aday Mara and Elliot Cadeau — were limited against TCU. The Wolverines are still learning how to handle double teams, push the ball in transition and defend without fouling.

"We might not ever find a solid rotation because we have so many unique pieces in our locker room," coach Dusty May said.

Offseason roster-building was a success. Now, the team-building is ongoing for a Michigan men's basketball team with soaring expectations.

There was plenty of buzz surrounding the No. 6 Michigan women’s basketball team in the preseason. Through four games, the Wolverines have more than lived up to that hype. Michigan won its first four games by an average of 49.
