College students are expected to descend on Fort Lauderdale through mid-April. They’re more than welcome, but city officials have this advice: Stay safe and follow the rules.

With the first spring breakers are beginning to filter down to South Florida, Fort Lauderdale officials will be detailing their safety measures this morning. They include increasing police enforcement on the beach during the day and in the entertainment areas at night.

As spring break gets underway in Fort Lauderdale, the city is implementing a couple of rules to help manage the expected surge in beachgoers and student visitors. City leaders have made it clear that rowdy behavior will not be tolerated and the measures are to keep everyone safe.

The City of Fort Lauderdale will be holding a conference on Wednesday to focus on measures for Spring Breakers. In anticipation of Spring Break, some restaurants and night spots have already gotten ahead of the crowds like The Wharf in Fort Lauderdale.
