Mr. Carney can’t count on that sentiment forever but he can count on it for months. Probably till the spring. His first budget, an economic agenda with a $78-billion deficit, has passed. He cleared his first big confidence-vote hurdle while barely breaking his stride. He has time and space to run for a while.
British Columbia will hold an election on Oct. 24, its premier said on Monday, making it the largest province in Canada so far to hold a vote during the coronavirus pandemic.
