Thanks to the popularity of the formula curated by Wordle, there's no shortage of daily puzzle games that use letters, numbers, and even pictures. Not every game like Wordle is worth your time, but among the hundreds that have appeared since the original, there are some real gems you should check out.

The newspaper acquired Wordle — which was created by Welsh software engineer Josh Wardle — in 2022. Last year, it was played 5.3 billion times, up from 4.8 billion plays in 2023, according to Deadline. Fallon, 51, already has three other NBC game shows on the air:

The Wordle project is being produced by “Tonight” host Jimmy Fallon’s company Electric Hot Dog, which already has two prime-time game shows on the air at the network, “That’s My Jam” and “On Brand.” Fallon is also a producer on NBC’s version of the classic game show “Password,” which has been ordered for a third season.

The AWS outage caused shared concern among Wordle fans, who worried about their daily streaks being disrupted.

This puzzle follows some of the conventions of Wordle. You get six tries to guess the word. If a letter on the keypad turns yellow, the letter is in that specific word, but it’s in the wrong spot. If it turns green, the letter is in the right spot. If it turns gray, it’s not part of the word. But unlike Wordle, there are six letters. Good luck!
