After not being picked as one of the 68 NCAA tournament teams, the Gophers (20-11) were snapped up by the Women’s Basketball Invitational, where they will be a No. 2 seed and play MAC runner-up Toledo (24-8).

The goal of making the NCAA tournament field turned out to be just out of reach for the Gophers women’s basketball team. But the program took another step by accepting a bid to play in the 32-team Women’s Basketball Invitation Tournament on Sunday.

For the second year in a row, the Florida Gators women's basketball team (16-17) is headed to the Women’s Basketball Invitation Tournament (WBIT). As a No. 3 seed, they’ll start the tournament at home against No. 6 seed Northern Iowa (17-16) on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the O’Connell Center.
