A tornado warning has been issued for St. Louis, Missouri, and much of the surrounding area. The National Weather Service warned that a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado has been located over Bridgeton and is moving northeast at a speed of 20 mph. Residents in the storm's path were urged to take immediate shelter.

A crucial National Weather Service office, battered by cuts, is trying to put on a brave face as tornado season peaks.

The warning is active until 7:30 p.m. and includes De Soto, Missouri. Stay in your safe place until the threat of the tornado has passed.

A level 2 out of 5 risk for severe weather is in place for the entire 5NEWS coverage area on Friday morning and Saturday morning.

The National Weather Service issued a Tornado Warning for Northern Lincoln County, Tennessee, until until 10:30 p.m.

On Tuesday at 2:55 p.m. the National Weather Service released an updated tornado warning in effect until 3:30 p.m. The warning is for Clay, Jackson, Lafayette and Ray counties.

The tornado warnings came as part of a multi-day severe weather outbreak in Lubbock and the region that brought heavy rainfall, power outages and reports of mostly wind-related storm damage that was still being assessed by the NWS and local authorities.
