Tara Sykes, 36, has been arrested after police say she convinced a child to try and kill a 2-year-old on online gaming platform Roblox.

A Pensacola woman was arrested after she instructed a 10-year-old over social media on how to kill a 2-month-old and the adults they were living with, according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.

Tara Alexis Sykes was taken into custody on Friday and charged with attempted murder while engaged in aggravated child abuse.

Tara Sykes allegedly instructed a 10-year-old to purposefully drop a 2-month-old on a solid tile floor in an attempt to end the infant's life.

Tara Sykes allegedly also told the child to drown and scold the infant with boiling water, and to slit the throats of the adults they were living with

Investigators said that Sykes told the 10-year-old about various methods to kill the infant. Sykes instructed the child to drown the infant in the bathtub, burn the infant with scalding water and drop the infant on the floor to kill the infant, according to authorities.

I have been in law enforcement for over 40 years and have never seen anything quite like this," the county's sheriff said.

The girl told investigators she was terrified of Tara Alexis Sykes, 36, and that she believed Sykes would kill her if she did not follow instructions.
