CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte Hornets were given the No. 4 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft in Monday's draft lottery. The Dallas Mavericks won the top pick. The Hornets finished the 2024-25 season with a 19-63 record, which is the third worst in the NBA. Only the Utah Jazz (17-65) and Washington Wizards (18-64) posted worse records.

There were tons of permutations for how the NBA Draft order could have shaken out following the annual lottery drawing. Among those permutations were ones that Charlotte Hornets fans have been dreaming of since Cooper Flagg descended into their state as one of the highest touted high school prospects in recent memory.

Charlotte was tied with the Utah Jazz and Washington Wizards with a 14% chance to earn the No. 1 overall pick, and the three teams finished 4-5-6 in the draft order. The fall to No. 4 continues a historic stretch of bad luck for the Hornets in the draft lottery.
