NEW YORK (AP) — New York Yankees pitcher Marcus Stroman had a cortisone shot to treat swelling in his inflamed left knee. Stroman went to a hospital for scans after the 33-year right-hander mentioned pain to the team following Friday’s start, when he allowed five runs and got two outs in a rainy 9-1 loss to the San Francisco Giants.

NEW YORK — After Yankees pitcher Marcus Stroman complained of discomfort in his left knee Friday night, he received a cortisone shot and the MRI came back clean. “Hopefully get him ramped up pretty quick and it’s something that helps him moving forward,” Manager Aaron Boone said before Sunday’s game.

The New York Yankees put right-hander Marcus Stroman (left knee inflammation) on the 15-day injured list on Saturday ahead of their home game against the San Francisco Giants. Stroman, 33, underwent X-rays and further tests Friday after he recorded just two outs in the Yankees' 9-1 loss to San Francisco.
