Khalil, a Columbia graduate student who helped lead protests against the war in Gaza last year, was arrested by immigration authorities on March 8.

Jamee E. Comans, an immigration judge in Louisiana, today ruled that the Trump administration had met the statutory requirements for deporting former Columbia graduate student Mahmoud Khalil, a legal permanent resident who was targeted because of his prominent role in anti-Israel protests at Columbia University.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio claimed the feds can deport Mahmoud Khalil solely over his “antisemitic” beliefs, ahead of a Friday hearing in his immigration case.
