Red Bull boss Laurent Mekies has denied the team squandered a chance to win Formula 1 ‘s Sao Paulo Grand Prix with its decision to pit Max Verstappen a third time. Verstappen mounted a remarkable comeback at Interlagos as he charged from the pit lane to the podium, taking third behind Lando Norris and Andrea Kimi Antonelli.
Norris leads after the first SQ3 runs - a 1:09.271-second lap. Piastri is only fourth, with Antonelli and Russell second and third. These four will now try and cool their tires and go again, while Verstappen and the rest are just going to leave it for one late flier.

Sauber Formula 1 driver Gabriel Bortoleto crashed out of the Brazilian Grand Prix, resulting in a safety car. After starting from 18th on the grid, Bortoleto crashed on the opening lap of his first home race. It looked as though he was squeezed by Aston Martin's Lance Stroll before he dipped onto the grass, lost traction and crashed into the wall.
