President Donald Trump has nominated a top economic adviser to the Federal Reserve’s board of governors for four months, temporarily filling a vacancy while continuing his search for a longer-term appointment.

If confirmed, Stephen Miran, the current chair of the Council of Economic Advisers, would temporarily fill a position left vacant by Adriana Kugler, who is stepping down early.

Stephen Miran has been serving as the Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors. Trump said he would only serve at the Fed until January 2026.
