Coach Dennis Allen said Monday that Carr was listed as doubtful because the team had hope that the 33-year-old could be the team’s emergency quarterback if need be. But when the time came, the Saints still listed Carr as out among the team’s inactives without the designation.

While this week is still up in the air, the Saints may get their starting quarterback back in the lineup sooner than expected.

The New Orleans Saints are without Derek Carr for a second straight game Thursday night. They may not have to wait too much longer for their starting quarterback to return to the field, however, with NFL Media reporting there's a chance the signal-caller will resume practice in time to suit up for Week 8.
