Damon Jones and LeBron James have reportedly been friends since their time playing for the Cavaliers together in the mid-2000s.
Damon Jones, a longtime friend and ex-teammate of LeBron James, was one of three individuals arrested last month in connection to an illegal poker operation and gambling charges.
The Feb. 9, 2023, game between the Bucks and Lakers that was referenced in the indictment was one that LeBron James did not play in.
Jones, 49, was arrested Thursday in a sweeping federal betting investigation that also resulted in the arrests of Portland Trail Blazers coach Chauncey Billups and Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier, according to court documents unsealed by the U.S. Department of Justice.

Damon Jones allegedly helped a bettor by telling him that LeBron James was sitting out a game: "Get a big bet on Milwaukee tonight"
At that time, Jones was a volunteer member of the Lakers' coaching staff at the behest of former head coach Darvin Ham. Before that particular game, Jones reportedly texted one of his co-conspirators to place a bet on the Bucks because LeBron James would not be playing that night, although he was available.
Reports suggest that Damon Jones used his friendship with LeBron James to inform others to bet on a Lakers-Bucks game in 2023.
