The crisis has resulted in significant challenges for emergency services and prompted the implementation of PSPS to mitigate further risks.

More than 4 million people were left in the dark (and the smoke) on Wednesday as fires raged around Southern California.

There are over 249,159 people without power in California, according to the USA TODAY power outage tracker. Most of the outages are in northern Los Angeles County, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power's outage map shows.
